I listen to the wisdom of your body.

Using neuroscience, I help you navigate and understand the messages of the body. This is in support of your own liberation from the unconscious survival physiology and relational dynamics that block connection, growth, and healing. Simply, our nervous system is wired for our survival. Trauma gets in the way of that and presents a need for repair and reattachment. Trauma may include Developmental, Intergenerational, Impact/Collision, Natural Disaster, Childbirth, Cancer/Illness, Domestic or Community-based, Physical, Psychological, Sexual, Chronic, Systemic, and Racial Traumas to name a few.

An Indigenous belief is that the pelvis is the seat of the soul—our work together will involve various modalities and tools to support your unique path of healing. This reparative healing is done together, in relationship. I am here to root us in compassion and grace with curiosity as a guide.

This trauma-focused modality is body lead. Depending on the unique needs of your body, your session may include some combination of the following:

What to Expect in a Somatic Root Therapy Session:

Your Body tells me how you carry your pain.

Tension is a road map, guiding us towards the ways Body is trying to protect itself. What does your Body need to shift this holding? What needs to change for the hurts to soften?

We do what we know. Often how we relate to our pain is influenced by what we have seen and experienced— How did those around you treat their bodies? How are your needs treated? How does your employer expect you to treat your body? How does the medical system treat your body? Historically, how has your family line’s bodies been treated?

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • With on-going, attuned, consent, we have the option to explore your pelvic organs, nervous system, ligaments, muscles inter-vaginally or inter-rectally. Using a gloved finger and lubricant, we are able to reach tissues that may be in need of healing touch.

  • Menstrual bleeding does not compromise our ability to continue your session. In fact, it may be a good time for a session if we are learning about your period. Please note the cancellation policy.

  • Yes! If you choose to involve your partner in this safe, healing space, they will be including in the capacity of your choosing as this is all in support of your healing.

  • Yes! We fully acknowledge, support and celebrate the demands of parenthood and community support. Please feel welcome to bring your children to the session if you feel it is in service of your healing. Your kiddos can play on the floor in the room. Your baby can eat during our session. I sometimes can manage holding a baby while supporting you! And I even move the treatments to the floor if a crawling babe needs to be attended to. I also support a desire to have this time for yourself without your kids. To clarify, no childcare does not need to be a barrier to access of therapy.

  • There is no need to do any special grooming. In fact, I encourage you to give yourself permission to show up fully as you are unapologetically! Be sure to arrive on-time as I am not able to run later to accommodate any delay in starting the session.

  • Well that really depends on each individual. Some experience a day or a week of energetic shifting that may include clearing of bowels, a desire for rest, increased energy, clarity, changes in symptoms… it varies!

  • I do not work with insurance companies, nor do I write Super Bills. You can read more about my rates and relationship to insurance companies here.

  • At your first appointment, I may recommend a specific number of visits based on your uniqueness. Due to the variability in personal goals and presentation, the number of recommended sessions varies greatly. This work is meant to be on-going so please plan on a least 6 sessions at a minimum.

  • We keep a firm boundary on our cancellation policy. You must cancel prior to 48 hours before your session or you will be charged the full cost of your booked appointment.
